Business Owners Can Dent Crime by Taking Time to Meet Our District Constables

Business and large property owners with private security can help put a dent in crime by getting to know the Harris County Precinct 5 constables who have been patrolling The Energy Corridor District (ECD) during the past eight months.

Harris County Constable Sergeant Philip Bennett and his three deputies have seen and stopped their share of criminal activity in the area. But Bennett – who regularly reports on his patrols during monthly District Board of Directors meetings – says companies and property owners can help by taking the time to get acquainted with the constables.

“We take a community-oriented policing approach,” says Bennett.

Part of that effort means proactively managing crime prevention by involving businesses with private security forces, Bennett explains.

Companies can set up a security meeting with Sergeant Bennett by contacting The District offices at (281) 759-3800, or by emailing Bennett at philip.bennett@cn5.hctx.net.

“We encourage companies in The District with private security forces to get acquainted with our constables and coordinate security schedules,” says Ali Lamkahouan, controller for The District. “That could go a long way to seeing our seven-day-a-week patrols have a greater impact on crime.”

In addition to Bennet, three constable deputies are working full time patrolling for The District, responding to public safety needs in The Energy Corridor. The constables have an office at The District’s headquarters on St. Mary Lane and park their patrol vehicles there for the management district’s Security & Public Safety program.

The deputies stagger hours to distribute patrols over the entire week. All service requests go through the Precinct 5 Dispatch operator stationed on IH-10 at Barker Cypress.

Sergeant Bennett supervises a team of ECD patrol officers that includes Deputy T. Castroman, Deputy T. Crigler and Deputy K.Z. Jenkins.

“We are here to serve and will do so with great pride and integrity,” Bennett says.

Calls to Constable Dispatch can immediately reach the officer on duty in The District. If back-up support is needed, Harris County can call on other officers in the area, as well as the Houston Police Department.

For emergency response, call 911.

For Harris County Precinct Five Constable Dispatch, call (281) 463-6666.
