Fares and How to Ride

Getting ready to ride the bus?

Houston METRO created this short video on how to ride in three easy steps.

  1. Plan your trip ahead of time using METRO's Trip Planner tool, METRO's T.R.I.P. app, or Google Transit.
  2. Pay your fare. Local buses are just $1.25 each way, and park and ride fares can be found here. You can pay with cash, a Q Card, a Day Pass, or via the METRO Q Mobile Ticketing app. More details on payment options here.
  3. Walk, bike or ride to your bus pick up location and board the bus. Simply touch your Q Card to the reader to pay your fare, or if you're using the Mobile Ticketing app, select "My Tickets" from the menu to the left of the screen and then select "Use Ticket." Want to load your bike on the bus? Visit Bikes on Buses for a few simple tips.
